Title: Bye bye Cossie
Post by Pegasus on Aug 30th, 2023, 2:11pm
Just waved goodbye to my lovely Cossie. Couldn't justify keeping it and my ULEZ compliant car. Cossies need to be driven.

Buyer is a mate (lives in Sussex) who asked me if I wanted to sell it and happily paid the asking price. He got a few spares too. He'll look after it (already has a Morris Minor) so it's gone to a good home. But still a sad day  :(

These cars need to be cherished.

Paul

That's a shame Paul. Sorry to hear. :'(
I was surprised to see that mine is compliant as it can run on LPG.... for however much longer that will be available mind you.
John.

Sorry to hear that Paul. I noticed it wasn't in the road when I drove by just now.

Did you have to contact the DVLA to make yours compliant?
One of my Dad's Scorpios is on LPG and that isn't down as compliant. Infact, when he converted his first Scorpio to LPG (15+ years ago) he contacted the DVLA about lowering the tax cost due to lower emissions. He was told that it couldn't be done as the car needed to be converted within so many years of the car being built (I think 2).

Hi Ryan.
No I didn't need to contact them just checked it online. Under type of fuel on my logbook it states Gas Bi Fuel so this will be why it is deemed compliant.
I converted my Scimitar to run on LPG in the year 2001 but I knew that I would never get it re-classified for road tax purposes it was to save money running it. So the within 2 year thing is probably correct. Check the logbook on your dads scorpio make sure it is recorded as such. Just checked mine again. DVLA website confirms all other cities apart from London and Scotland where I need to check on seperate website. Ha just checked for London and my vehicle DOES have a charge against it. Just as well I live up here in Scotland. :-/ Ah well. So correction from above not compliant for ULEZ London.
John.

What you driving now Dave? I noticed an Audi always seems to be parked outside

Audi - how dare you ;D
It's a '21 plate Hyundai Ioniq EV.
Still have the Scorpio but haven't got round to removing the headlining to find where it's leaking or the petrol pump wiring issue. SORN at the moment - chances are I won't get round to sorting it, especially as Kahn's made it not worth bringing to Beckenham.

Sorry to hear of this. Nice to know that it will live on with your friend though.

So far no restrictions, no money either in this part of the "state" but doesn't mean it will stay that way.

Seems so few left now, even on here we are geeting sparse.
