Title: a900one
Post by Belmont on Apr 6th, 2024, 7:23pm
Hi

My dad Gerald aka a900one as sadly passed I can see he posted here a bit. I've taken on the Scorpio and it's a credit to his dedication everything appears to work as it should and drives really nice.

Hi Belmont,
Sorry to hear about your dad. My condolences. Hope you have many lovely trouble free miles in the car. Hopefully your dad fixed the potential problems these cars have primarily the wiring. Great car to have.
John.

So sorry to hear of this, condolences to you and all your family.

I had spoken with him a while ago now as his was one of the few Scorpio owners down this way.

We are all keen to help so any problems with the car just ask.

Regards

Roy

Thanks  all.

So far so good my daily was in the garage last week so has to use the Scorpio and had a 200 mile round trip on Sunday. Only thing was a couple of times I turned the key and there was nothing I believe it's due to the after market stereo charging the Power Capacitor.

Not sure if i have had the same problem, I turn the battery off every time I leave the car overnight as I know it has a fusebox drain.

Occasionally on starting the first turn of the key nothing works, but reset back to rest and try again and off it goes, can be with a cold engine or just if you've left it a short while and use again.
Cased it up with my local guy and he reckons it's the switch at the other end of the ignition barrel, as these wear over time (this car has 130,000 on it), not sure if this is correct but it always goes on second turn of the key-having failed on the first.

Sounds more likely than my theory my dad had some micro switch spray I'll put a bit down the barrel.
Had not used it for 3 days and started first time today so looks like I have no battery drain.

I plan on re MOT'ing it in a couple of months as the current MOT runs out the same time as my daily and don't want two MOT's leading up to Christmas.
