Fuel System On all Scorpio models, a steel fuel tank is mounted at the rear of the vehicle under the floor. In petrol models, a high pressure fuel pump is immersed in the tank and drives fuel through a filter mounted next to the petrol tank. The fuel is pumped through steel and plastic pipes to the fuel rail through a pressure regulator, which returns unwanted fuel through another pipe back to the petrol tank. An Evaporative Emissions System draws petrol fumes into a charcoal storage device that is regularly purged by submitting it to engine vacuum, and this system is the cause of the hiss when the petrol cap is opened. On petrol models the fuelling is controlled by the EECV Powertrain Control Module and is diagnosed with On Board Diagnostics (OBD-II) Fuel Monitor On Diesel models the fuel injector pump draws fuel from the tank. Injection and boost control is by a Ford or Bosch PCM, depending on year. The following files are PDF versions of the Ford Workshop Manual on TIS supplied to us by Ford (Europe).
