Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT)Sensor Data The ECT sensor is a temperature sensitive resistor (thermistor) connected to the internal resistor network in the Powertrain Control Module, the EECV, and it provides a output voltage inversely proportional to the engine coolant temperature. The sensor element is a 0.095" diameter disk thermister with soldered leads and a plastic protective coating. NOTE: At ambient (and only ambient) engine temperature both the IAT and the ECT resistance should show the same value. For a table of readings to temperature, see ECT data is shown below.
