In November 1997, ready
for the 1998 model year (for the R registration letter) Ford brought out the
facelift model - in fact this was to be the final incarnation of the vehicle and
to many this is the best. It is also relatively rare as just over 6000 were
manufactured. New features included a restyled rear which reduced the 'bustle'
effect, a more sophisticated front bumper including air ducts for brake cooling
and color coded radiator surround and darkened head lamp inners. The net
effect was to improve the styling and sophistication of the car. Additional
goodies were also added to the top of the range Ultima, including reversing
radar, headlamp wash, and adjustable headlamps.
